Food and drink
Vino
Great Italian wines from small estates. Pink house next door to
the Lively Hope. Opening times are erratic - best to knock on
the door and ask what is available. Guests are honorary
Club Vino members and can purchase at club prices (try the Barbera!).
Pebblebed
Wines Award-winning English wines from grapes grown just
two miles from Topsham. Wines can be tasted and purchased in
The Wine Cellar on Wed-Saturday evenings most times of the
year, as well as Saturday during the day (usually). Enjoy the
local wine while watching the sun go down over the Haldon Hills!
Petite
Maison Probably Topsham’s best restaurant. Well, we think
so anyway.
Oliva
Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.
The
Galley Restaurant Popular fish and seafood restaurant on
the river almost opposite The Lively Hope. Also outstanding
takeaway fish and chips.
Route
2 Café Bar & Cycle Hire Just around
the corner from The Lively Hope (what isn't?) - an all-day licensed
café
bar that also offers bicycle hire. Rent a bike and cycle on the
Route 2 national cycle path from Topsham to the sea at Exmouth.
The
Bridge Inn Legendary and famous pub most notable for it outstanding
cask-conditioned ales and unique and unchanging style. The only
pub ever visited by HM the Queen!
Turf
Take the Sea Dream ferry to this unique waterside pub (can only
be reached by foot, boat or cycle). Excellent beers, wines and great
pub food.
Country
Cheeses Really outstanding artisan cheese shop selling mainly
West Country cheeses.
Darts
Farm A veritable one-stop
shopping destination in its own right. Great food hall - meat
from Gerald David, fish from the Fish Shed,
delicatessan, veg and much more. Plus you can buy your AGA while
your here, tiles from Fired Earth, an original work of art,
or your ice axe for climbing on Dartmoor. Tea shop-cum-restaurant
is a nice place to come for full English breakfast or for lunch
or tea. Fish Shed fish & chips are the best ever.
Michael
Caines at ABode Exeter Located on Exeter’s lovely Cathedral
Yard. Michael Caines is Exeter’s most famous chef and our
local food hero. Come to his signature restaurant for a special
meal, or to the Café Bar or Well House Tavern for more informal
foods. |
